History
Foamex's roots date back to 1983 with the acquisition of Scott Paper's foam division. Since then Foamex has grown both internally and through
strategic acquisitions:

In 1986,
Foamex Products, Inc., the former foam division of The Firestone Tire & Rubber
Company,
was acquired.

In 1988,
three regional producers were acquired: Millfoam Products,
Inc. (from Miller
Companies), a Tupelo, M.S. plant (from Sheller-Globe) and Curon (from Reeves Brothers).

In 1990,
Foamex L.P. was formed through the contribution of certain North American
foam assets from Recticel S.A., Europe's largest foam
manufacturer and certain other assets from its then-owner.

In 1993,
Foamex acquired Great Western Foam Co., a major West Coast foam producer;
and General Felt Industries (GFI), a carpet cushion manufacturer
and distributor in Saddlebrook, N.J.

In 1993, Foamex completed an IPO and became an independent public company, trading on the NASDAQ as FMXI.
-
In 1994, Foamex acquired TEFSA, a Mexican foam producer.

In 1995,
Foamex installed its first of four new Variable Pressure Foaming (VPF)
lines and began marketing proprietary and value-added VPF products.

In 1995, Foamex
acquired certain fiber and synthetic felt carpet
cushion assets from G.S. Industries, Inc. and Pontotoc Fibers, Inc.

In 1996,
Foamex announced a strategic alliance with Recticel, the largest manufacturer
of polyurethane products in Europe, to jointly design, manufacture
and market products for the automotive industry.

In 1996, Foamex created Foamex Asia, a new division to focus exclusively
on expanding the Company's presence in Asian markets.
-
In
1997, Foamex completed the acquisition of Crain Holdings
Corp., a producer of flexible polyurethane foam.

In 2001, Foamex expanded its operations by adding VPF manufacturing facilities in Cornelius, N.C. and Auburn, I.N.
In 2001, Foamex
acquired certain assets of General Foam Corporation.
